SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Southern Conference and SportSouth today announced the 2010 Southern Conference football television schedule, during which Elon will make two appearances. Branded SoCon Saturdays, the Southern Conference football schedule on SportSouth includes eight games and includes all nine league members. Elon has also announced times for each of its 11 regular-season tilts.
Elon will be featured in back-to-back telecasts early in the season as the Phoenix's games at Georgia Southern on September 25 and at Appalachian State on October 9 will be televised.
The final two match-ups, set for November 13 and 20, will be selected jointly by the conference and SportSouth to choose games that figure to have the greatest impact on the league race.
"The concept of two wild card weekends is something we've discussed in the past and are excited to finally put in place," said Southern Conference Commissioner John Iamarino. "This will assure our viewers of seeing meaningful conference games down the stretch in November."
SoCon Saturdays will begin on September 4 when Chattanooga hosts Appalachian State.
Elon also has set times for each of its home contests. After beginning the year with a 7 p.m. tilt at Duke on September 4, the Phoenix will return home to take on Shaw at 7 p.m. on September 11. Elon's final non-conference match-up will take place at 1 p.m. at Richmond on September 18.
Elon's two televised games come in two of the next three weeks. The Phoenix will play at Georgia Southern on September 25 at 6 p.m. before hosting Samford on October 2 at 1:30 p.m. The second SportSouth broadcast will come at Appalachian State on October 9 at 3 p.m.
After its open weekend, the Phoenix will host Wofford at 1:30 p.m. before spending the next two Saturday's on the road – at Chattanooga on October 30 at 2 p.m. and at The Citadel on November 6 at 2 p.m.
Elon's final two games will be played at Rhodes Stadium and have the potential to be picked up by SportSouth. On November 13 the Phoenix hosts Furman in a 1:30 p.m. game. The final regular-season contest will see Western Carolina visit Elon for a 3 p.m. game on November 20. Times for those games are subject to change for television.
Season tickets are still available and individual game tickets will go on sale on August 11. Season tickets range in price from $40-$110 each while individual game ticket prices will range from $15-$25. A Family Pack of season tickets is also available for $170 and includes two adult and two youth tickets.
