ELON, N.C.
-- The Elon men's soccer team will face off against 17th-ranked Coastal Carolina in the Phoenix's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance on Thursday, November 17 at 7 p.m. The reigning Southern Conference Tournament champions will look to avenge a 2-1 loss to Coastal Carolina earlier this season and advance to the second round of postseason action.

PKS
• Elon earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history after earning the Southern Conference automatic bid following a victory in the league tournament championship game on Nov. 13.
• The Phoenix, seeded sixth in the SoCon Tournament, defeated the No. 3 seed Georgia Southern, the No. 2 seed Furman and top-seeded UNCG to earn the tournament crown and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. They are the first team in SoCon Tournament history to defeat the top three seeds en route to the championship.
• Elon was the second lowest seed to ever win the SoCon Tournament, competing in the championship game for the second time since joining the league in 2003.
• Elon’s win over No. 16 Furman in the semifinals marked the highest nationally ranked team the Phoenix has defeated at the Division I level. Elon’s last victory over a nationally-ranked opponent was in 2006 when Elon topped No. 17 UAB, 2-0, at the UNCG Classic in Greensboro.
• Elon is currently on a four match unbeaten streak.
• Most of the Phoenix’s success has come on the road this year  — Elon has not lost a road game since a trip to Furman on October 18. Elon went 7-4-1 away from Rudd Field this season.
• Elon is captained by seniors Nick Millington, Jahan Threeths, Drew Gardner and James Carroll.
• Nick Millington was touted as the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week this week and also received recognition on Top Drawer Soccer’s Team of the Week. Millington earned second team all-conference honors as well.

LAST TIME OUT
• Two goals from junior forward Jordan Smith propelled Elon to a 3-2 victory over the SoCon regular-season champion UNCG Spartans in Boone, N.C. on Sunday, Nov. 13. The Phoenix took a commanding 3-0 lead after Smith’s second goal in the 74th minute before UNCG managed to find the back of the net twice in a span of 60 seconds to claw within one goal. The Phoenix defense held off a furious Spartan comeback to secure the title and the automatic bid.
• Elon was awarded its first penalty kick of the year in the championship contest. Gabe Latigue scored his fourth goal of the year on the PK.
• Nick Millington was named the tournament’s most outstanding player and joined Austen King, Jordan Smith and Gabe Latigue on the all-tournament team.
