ELON, N.C. -- Two more additions to the first recruiting class of Elon football head coach
Jason Swepson have been announced by the program. Joining the Phoenix this fall will be defensive back Evan Kendrick (Gahanna, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) and wide receiver Tario Hunter (Ahoskie, N.C./Hertford County/Fork Union Military Academy).
Kendrick (5-10, 185 pounds) collected first-team All-Central Catholic League, first-team all-district, first-team all-metro and was an all-state selection in his time at St. Francis DeSales. A two-year starter for coach Ryan Wiggins, Kendrick helped the program to extend its run of playoff appearances to 17 consecutive seasons. In 2008 the program reached the state semifinals before ending the 2009 campaign as the state runner-up.
Evan is the son of Tony and Wendy Kendrick and plans to major in marketing.
Hunter (6-1, 180 pounds) spent the 2010 season at Fork Union. Prior to that, he concluded his career for coach Scott Privott at Hertford County High with 1,500 receiving yards, 22 touchdowns and 40 receptions. A player of the year honoree, Hunter was recognized with his team's all-purpose yards award. He also played baseball while at Hertford County.
Tario is the son of former North Carolina Central athlete Howard Hunter and Tracie Everette. He intends to major in business administration.
