ELON, N.C. – Elon men’s soccer players
Austen King and
Gabe Latigue led the Carolina Railhawks U-23 team to the USASA U-23 National Cup Championship this weekend in Bowling Green, Ky. Latigue tallied one goal as the Railhawks finished the tournament with a +8 goal differential.
After winning the regional crown, the Railhawks began the national tournament with a 6-2 result against Lazio of Utah in the semifinals on Friday night. The team took home the championship trophy with a 4-0 shutout over Scott Gallagher of St. Louis on Sunday morning.
Phoenix fans can get their first look at Latigue, King and the rest of the 2011 Elon squad when it hosts High Point in the season opener at Rhodes Stadium on August 27 at 8 p.m.
