ELON, N.C. -- The
Jason Swepson era of football at Elon University gets underway on Sunday as the Phoenix will take to Hunt and Tucker Fields at 3:40 p.m. for the first practice of the season. All of Elon's preseason practices are open to the public.
The Phoenix finished the 2010 season with a 6-5 overall record and a 5-3 mark in the Southern Conference to finish in a tie for third place. Elon ended the season on a four-game winning streak.
Picked to finish fifth in the nine-team Southern Conference by the league's coaches, Elon had three players named to the preseason all-league teams while two Phoenix standouts – wide receiver
Aaron Mellette and offensive lineman
Rodney Austin – have earned multiple preseason All-America honors.
