ELON, N.C. – Elon University men’s soccer junior midfielder
Matt Wescoe was named to the 2012 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) University Division Scholar All-South Region Team, as announced by the association on Friday, Dec. 14.
Wescoe was a second team selection after playing in all 22 matches on the year and leading the Phoenix with seven assists and was second on the squad in goals (6) and points (19). The Willow Springs, N.C., native was a third team All-Southern Conference selection this season after helping the maroon and gold capture both the league’s regular-season and tournament titles in the same year for the first time in program history.
A political science major with a 3.56 GPA, Wescoe was named to the SoCon All-Tournament team this season and earned a spot on the Capital One Academic All-District 3 first team last month.
