ELON, N.C. – Elon head women’s soccer coach
Chris Neal has announced five spring matches for the Phoenix in 2012, beginning with a Feb. 29 contest in Greensboro versus UNCG and Duke.
“I am excited about our spring season for many reasons. We have more flexibility with our team tactics and more freedom to experiment in all areas than we traditionally have during the fall,” Neal said. “It is also a chance for us to play quality opponents that we may not have had the chance to play in the traditional segment. Our goals for the spring are for our players to become more confident in their individual abilities, for our team to cultivate leadership now that the seniors are gone, and to answer as many questions as possible about the players’ positional capabilities.”
Elon’s first home match is slated for March 31 when it hosts Columbus State, Wingate and Campbell at 10:30 a.m. at Rudd Field. The Phoenix also hosts North Carolina and High Point on April 4 at 7 p.m.
The maroon and gold close out the spring with two road matches, at Charlotte on April 11 and against NC State on April 21 at the WRAL Soccer Complex in Raleigh, N.C.
