Elon Phoenix Weekly: On the Pitch With Shane Carew

First-year assistant has helped Elon to a 13-4-1 record in 2013

As the postseason for the Elon University men's soccer team begins this Saturday, here's a chance to learn more about one of the men who has been instrumental in the Phoenix's success this season. First-year assistant coach Shane Carew has helped guide the Phoenix to another highly successful campaign after joining the team in August. The maroon and gold posted a 13-4-1 mark during the year, setting a program-record for regular-season wins, while receiving numerous team and individual accolades throughout the year. Prior to Elon, Carew had served as the Executive Director of Coaching for FC Carolina Alliance and played collegiate at UNC Charlotte. He also played professionally in his native Ireland with Shelbourne FC and Kilkenny City and also with the Long Island Rough Riders.
