DURHAM, N.C. – The Elon University men’s tennis team defeated the Washington & Lee Generals, 7-0, on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Sheffield Tennis Center on the campus of Duke University.
Elon won the doubles point to take an early 1-0 lead in the match.
Cameron Silverman and
Robert Lindgren won 8-4 versus Hayden White and Christopher Hu, while
Juan Madrid and
Dan Sablik came away victorious, 8-2, over Brian Krouskos and Thomas Johnson at No. 3.
Silverman, ranked No. 21 in the nation, claimed 6-1, 6-1, win over White at No. 1 singles, while Lindgren defeated Taylor Shamshiri at No. 2, 6-1, 6-2.
Jordan Kaufman was a winner at No. 3 singles after topping Michael Holt in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5, while
Brian Kowalski won, 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 4 spot.
Carlos Arboleda and Brian Krouskos went three sets, as Arboleda bounced back from a 6-2 setback in the first set to claim the next to sets, 6-4, 13-11, for the victory.
Rookie
Ismael Sanchez Delfin was victorious at No. 6 singles, topping John Kirby in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
Elon’s next match is slated for Feb. 22 at home versus Radford.
