ELON, N.C. – After closing out the home portion of its 2014 schedule, the Elon volleyball team plays the first of its final four regular season matches on Wednesday, Nov. 5, when the Phoenix (6-22, 1-11 CAA) travels to Wilmington, N.C., to take on UNC Wilmington (18-8, 8-4 CAA) in a 7 p.m. match.
 
Looking Back
The Phoenix recorded its first Colonial Athletic Association win on Friday with a thrilling 3-2 victory over William & Mary. Megan Gravley led the team on offense with 16 kills, while Sydney Busa tallied 11 kills and 10 digs for a double-double. Morgan Maner had a match-high 19 digs and tallied eight aces, which tied the Elon Division I program record for a single match. Elon was on the other end of a hard fought five-set match on Sunday as when the Phoenix fell to James Madison, 3-2. The maroon and gold rallied twice after losing the first and third sets to continue the match. Despite the loss, Kayla Agae posted a double-double with a match-high 22 kills and 10 digs, while Ana Nicksic also tallied a double-double with 31 assists and a team-high 15 digs.
 
Scouting UNC Wilmington
The Seahawks claimed a 3-1 victory when UNCW visited Alumni Gym on Oct. 11. Ally Karle led the Phoenix in the match with 10 kills, while Catherine Head hit .313 and tallied five blocks. The Seahawks sit fourth in the league standings and clinched a spot in the CAA Championship last weekend. UNCW ranks first in the CAA in blocks (2.77/set) and third in opponent hitting percentage (.190). The team's block is led by Meredith Peacock who has tallied 124 blocks on the season and averages 1.47 blocks pet set. The junior has been named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week three times.
 
Head Coach Mary Tendler
Elon head coach Mary Tendler is in her 12th season with the Phoenix program. She enters Wednesday's match with a 191-197 Elon and career record.
 
Looking Ahead
Elon's next match will be at College of Charleston on Saturday, Nov. 8. The first serve is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Charleston, S.C.
