Rain Ends Elon's Match Against Winthrop

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men's tennis team's match against Winthrop was halted when rain began to fall in the middle of the first set of singles action today, March 13, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. The match will not be resumed.

The match began with singles play instead of doubles due to the forecasted rain. Five of the six matches were separated by one game when play was halted.

Stefan Fortmann led Winthrop's Tremayne Mitchell, 4-3, at No. 1 singles while Jordan Kaufman held a 4-3 advantage on court No. 2.

Elon is back in action on Sunday, March 15, when the Phoenix hosts George Washington for a 2:30 p.m. match at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
