FINAL RESULTS

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men's tennis team dispatched the Barton College Bulldogs with a 7-0 sweep in its home opener on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 30, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
 
Elon improves to 1-2 for the season with the victory and Barton falls to 1-1 overall with the loss to the Phoenix.
 
Highlights
The Phoenix took all three doubles matches to clinch the doubles point for a 1-0 lead. Rob Lindgren and Mario Paccini earned the first doubles victory with an 8-0 on court two. Petar Tomic and Salvador Mijares clinched the point for a 8-0 shutout on the first court.
 
In singles play, Chris Humphreys claimed the first victory on court five with a 6-1, 6-0 and Neal Port earned Elon's third point with a 6-2, 6-0 win at the No. 6 position.
 
Felipe Sarrasague clinched the victory for Elon winning 6-1, 6-0 against Rafael Ruiz at No. 2 singles. In the order of courts three, one and four, the Pheonix closed out the win with victories from Rob Lindgren, Paccini and Charlie Sullivan respectively. Taylor Foote also played an exhibition singles match with 6-2, 6-1 victory against Robert Taylor.
