ELON, N.C – After having its last two matches cancelled and postponed due to inclement weather, the Elon University men's tennis team returns to the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center to take on Brown at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, and VCU at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28.
LAST TIME OUTElon (4-3) had its Feb. 23 match at Campbell postponed, two days after the Phoenix was forced to cancel its home match against Gardner-Webb. The team's last completed match came on Feb. 13, when Elon defeated USC Upstate 5-1.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTSBrown is 6-4 on the season with wins against William & Mary and Boston College. Friday's contest marks the first true road match for the Bears.
VCU is 9-2 and recently had a five-match win streak snapped in a loss to Old Dominion. Catalin Fifea is 8-1 in singles play and Michal Voscek is 9-2 as the Rams' top singles player.
SERIES HISTORYElon defeated Brown 4-3 in 2014, the lone matchup between the two schools.
The Phoenix is 0-2 against VCU since 2011. Elon suffered a 4-3 defeat to the 59
th-ranked Rams in Richmond, Va., last season.
YOUTH MOVEMENTTrue freshman have been carrying a heavy load for the Phoenix so far this season.

Felipe Sarrasague and
Charlie Sullivan have combined for 14 of the team's 23 singles wins through seven matches.
Mijares is tied with
Robert Lindgren for the team lead with four singles wins while Sullivan is a perfect 3-0 to start the season.
UP NEXTThe Phoenix heads to Greensboro to take on North Carolina A&T at 3 p.m. March 2. That match was originally scheduled to be played Jan. 23 but was cancelled.
HEAD COACH MICHAEL LEONARDMichael Leonard is in his 12
th season as Elon's director of tennis and head men's tennis coach. Leonard is a five-time winner of the Southern Conference Coach of the Year award and has led the program to five conference championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances.
2016 CAA TOURNAMENTElon was selected to host the 2016 Men's and Women's Tennis Championships, which will be held April 21-24 at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center and the Burlington Tennis Center. It will mark the first-ever CAA Tournament hosted by the Phoenix and first conference tournament hosted by the program since the 2013 SoCon Tournament.
