Phoenix Up to No. 22 in New NCAA RPI Rankings

ELON, N.C. – In this week's NCAA Women's Basketball RPI released Monday, Elon University leads all mid-majors at No. 22 on the list.

The Phoenix jumped two spots from last week's list. It marks the second week in a row Elon leads all mid-majors and is the highest Elon has ever ranked in the RPI, topping last week's previous high at No. 24.

Elon is coming off a weekend in which it completed season sweeps of College of Charleston and Drexel. The Phoenix beat Charleston 84-56, the largest margin of victory in a conference game for Elon since joining the CAA. On Sunday at home against Drexel in front of 1,054 fans, Elon topped the Dragons 75-65 to give head coach Charlotte Smith her 100th-career win and her Phoenix extended its winning streak to nine in a row. For her efforts in the pair of wins, Lauren Brown was named CAA Player of the Week for the second time in her career.

Back in action Friday night, Elon welcomes James Madison to Alumni Gym. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. as the Phoenix looks to continue the program's best start to conference play since starting 6-0 in 2001-02 as a member of the Big South.
