ELON, N.C. –
With hot, humid air in place, the Elon University football team continued its preseason camp with a nearly two-hour practice session on the Hunt and Tucker practice fields on Wednesday afternoon.

Following the workout, head coach Curt Cignetti provided some thoughts as the Phoenix approaches its second preseason scrimmage:

"I would describe Monday and Tuesday's practices as grueling and extremely challenging for the team. We're trying to increase their capacity and workload. That, without question, taxed them, but I saw guys pushing through it and not giving in. That's important. This is always a tough week in camp and it's important that you keep pushing through and don't give in. All the teams across the country are in the same situation. We lightened up a hair today and I thought they flew around. I see progress."

"We're looking for improvement in every area in our second scrimmage. We'd like to increase the snaps. We got about 85 plays in last scrimmage. We're nicked up at some positions and we're thin at some. Some of that will depend on how many able bodies we have. We're still really limited at receiver and have had to move some guys there to be able to practice. I just want to see us get better."

Elon will return to the practice fields on Thursday afternoon before Friday's Phoenix Kickoff event at Rhodes Stadium. For more information on the Phoenix Kickoff, click HERE.
