ELON, N.C. – Set to make its second-straight appearance in the FCS Playoffs, 17th-ranked Elon University football will take on No. 12 Wofford in the first round of the tournament on Saturday, Nov. 24, at 2 p.m. on ESPN3. The matchup is the first between the two teams since Elon met Wofford on Oct. 12, 2013, at Gibbs Stadium.
Fans can watch the game live on ESPN3 with Jonathan Yardley and Stan Lewter on the call. Phoenix fans can also listen to the game exclusively through Phoenix All-Access and on the TuneIn app.

SERIES HISTORY
-Elon and Wofford will meet Saturday for the 38th time going all the way back to 1921. Overall, Wofford leads the series 26-11 but the two teams have split the last four meetings at Gibbs Stadium going back to the 2007 season.
-In that stretch, Elon's two wins came in 2007 and 2009 with a 24-13 win in 2007 and a 34-9 victory in 2009.
-Last time the two met overall was in 2013 when Elon fell 31-27 on the road to the Terriers.
NATIONAL RANKINGS
-Elon is ranked No. 17 in both national polls this week.
-Elon has now been ranked for 20 consecutive games going back to Sept. 30, 2017, when Elon hosted Albany at Rhodes Stadium.
LAST TIME OUT
-Looking to create a tie at the top of the CAA standings, Elon put together a comeback attempt but fell short in a 27-26 loss on the road to CAA regular-season champion Maine.
-Elon trailed 27-13 in the third quarter before scoring the game's final 13 points.

ELON IN THE PLAYOFFS
-In its first two Division I playoff appearances, Elon fell by a combined four points on the road at No. 4 Richmond 16-13 and lost 28-27 at home last year to No. 22 Furman.
-While it's the third D-I appearance, Elon is no stranger to postseason play. It won back-to-back NAIA National Championships in 1980 and 1981. It also reached postseason action in 1973, 1974, 1976 and 1978.
CIGNETTI IN THE PLAYOFFS
-This marks the fifth time
Curt Cignetti has led a team to playoff football in his eight seasons as a head coach. He took his IUP teams to the Division II playoffs in 2012, 2015 and 2016 while guiding Elon to the playoffs in 2017.
-The best showing a Cignetti team has had was a quarterfinal appearance in 2012 with IUP.
ROAD WARRIORS
-In each of Elon's last 10 road games, it has trailed at some point in the second half. In those 10 games, Elon has won six of them.
-Over the course of the last three seasons, Elon has defeated a Top 10 program on the road in each campaign by beating No. 8 William & Mary 27-10 in 2016, No. 6 Richmond 36-33 in 2017 and No. 2 James Madison 27-24 this year.

HEAD COACH CURT CIGNETTI
-Elon is under the leadership of
Curt Cignetti who was named the program's 22nd head football coach on Dec. 31, 2016.
-The assistant coach/recruiting coordinator on Nick Saban's undefeated 2009 National Championship team at Alabama, Cignetti previously spent six seasons as the head coach at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, amassing a record of 53-17.
-Cignetti is the sixth man to guide the Phoenix since the program moved to Division I play for the 1999 season.
THE FAMILY BUSINESS

Curt Cignetti grew up around football. His father Frank compiled a career 199-77-1 record as a collegiate head coach at West Virginia and IUP and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2013. His brother, Frank Jr., is currently the quarterbacks coach for the Green Bay Packers.
2019 SEASON
The 2019 football schedule was released Wednesday, Oct. 31. The 11-game schedule features five home games against The Citadel, James Madison, Delaware, William & Mary and Maine.
-Road games in FCS play throughout the year include trips to North Carolina A&T, Richmond, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Towson.
-After starting the season with three FCS games, Elon will close non-conference play with a trip to Winston-Salem, N.C., to battle the ACC's Wake Forest on Sept. 21.
