OAKLAND, Calif. - After Elon University men's basketball arrived in San Francisco on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 21, the Phoenix had the chance to prepare for the Tiger Thanksgiving Classic at the practice facility of back-to-back NBA Champion the Golden State Warriors, and also got a special visit from two-time league MVP Stephen Curry.
Once the team arrived at the facility, Curry was waiting with Elon men's basketball head coach
Matt Matheny. He spent the first few minutes talking to the team and then stuck around for a little over an hour of Elon's practice before leaving for the day.
Coach Matheny spoke about Steph Curry's visit with the team and the opportunity to practice at the Golden State Warriors' facility.
Head Coach Matt Matheny on Stephen Curry visiting practice...
"I think the players were a little surprised when we pulled up in downtown Oakland and arrived and we were at the Golden State Warriors' practice facility. Then when we got here and walked up and Steph [Curry] was still here, I thought it was really cool. Steph is such a great person. I think he was ready to get out of practice and get home, but he spent a little over an hour with us. He talked to our guys and he was able to share some really cool nuggets of just to enjoy the process and value the time that you have while you are in college and time with your teammates that you have. Then he stuck around and watched us practice for a while."
