KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Elon University men's basketball team was recognized with the 2024–25 NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, as announced by the national organization on Thursday, July 17.
In addition to the team award, the Phoenix saw four athletes –
TK Simpkins,
Deandre Smart,
Matthew Van Komen and
Austin Williams – named to the 2024-25 NABC Honors Court. Overall, the team achieved a 3.17 GPA for the year, the program's third consecutive year over a 3.0.
"I am incredibly proud of our student-athletes for their hard work and dedication in the classroom.," said Elon head men's basketball coach
Billy Taylor. "Earning this recognition is a testament to their commitment to excellence not just on the court, but in their academic pursuits as well. It is also a reflection of the quality of resources that
Cayce Crenshaw and our faculty and staff provide to student-athletes here at Elon. We are grateful to all the individuals who support and inspire our student-athletes."
