ELON, N.C. – As the final basketball games inside Elon University's Alumni Gym draw near, the Elon Department of Athletics has announced celebrations that will take place on Saturday, Feb. 24, and Thursday, March 1, surrounding men's and women's basketball games.
At halftime on Saturday, Feb. 24, when the men's basketball team hosts Northeastern, Elon will recognize men's basketball alumni from the 1950s until present day. Additionally, the first 500 fans in attendance will have the chance to receive a free Alumni Gym special edition t-shirt. Doors open at 6 p.m. before the Phoenix and Huskies tip at 7 p.m. Prior to tip, students from Western Alamance Middle School will perform the Star Spangled Banner and Elon will recognize its senior class of Brian Dawkins, Dmitri Thompson, Collin Luther, Jack George, and Jack Anton.
The final basketball game inside Alumni Gym will be held on Thursday, March 1, when the women's basketball team hosts William & Mary at 7 p.m. At halftime, Elon will recognize women's basketball alumni from each decade of Alumni Gym dating back to the inception of the program in 1971-72. Additionally, the first 100 Elon students in attendance will have the chance to receive a free Alumni Gym special edition t-shirt. Prior to tip, a cappella group Vital Signs will perform the Star Spangled Banner.
