Elon, N.C. – Elon University women's soccer redshirt junior
Hannah Doherty, sophomore Kayla Hodges and freshman
Jessica Carrieri earned Colonial Athletic Association Women's Soccer postseason honors on Thursday, Oct. 31, as announced by the league office. Doherty was placed on the All-CAA First Team, while Hodges took home Second Team honors and Carrieri earned a spot on both the Third Team and All-Rookie Team respectively.
Doherty collects her third career All-CAA accolade with the First Team selection. She made a big impact on the team this season, playing primarily in the midfield. The Crumlin, Northern Ireland, native made 18 appearances and 14 starts during the 2019 season. Doherty finished the year leading the team in assists with nine, while also adding one goal for a total of 11 points. Doherty's lone goal of the season came in dramatic fashion, as she buried a free kick to secure a 2-1 win for the Phoenix against Charleston on Oct. 17.
Hodges appeared in 16 matches for the Phoenix this season, starting all 16. As a defender, she finished the regular season ranked third on the team in goals scored with four, while also adding two assists for a total of ten points. This season, Hodges was a key contributor to Elon's backline that helped guide the team to an 11-win season and it's first CAA Tournament appearance in program history. Her selection to the Second Team marks the first time Hodges has earned All-CAA Postseason honors in her college career.
Carrieri appeared in 18 matches, making two starts for the Phoenix. A freshman out of Green Brook, N.J., Carrieri finished second on the team in goals scored (8) while adding two assists for a total of 18 points. Following a stellar rookie season, Carrieri was named to both the All-CAA Third team as well as the All-Rookie Team.
