Phoenix Hosts UNCW, Charleston For Homecoming Weekend

ELON, N.C. – Homecoming weekend sees Elon University volleyball play its final two home matches of the season as the Phoenix (12-13, 6-5 CAA) hosts UNCW on Friday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. and College of Charleston Sunday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY
-vs. UNCW: The Seahawks (12-11, 2-8) snapped Elon's three-match win streak with a 3-1 final on Oct. 6 in Wilmington, N.C. With the win, UNCW improved to 23-15 in the all-time series.

-Leah Daniel led the Phoenix in the loss with a match-high 17 kills. The sophomore added four blocks (one solo), four digs, and 19.5 points to her totals. Kellyn Trowse followed with five kills, Kodi Garcia picked up 18 assists, and Isabella Seman served a pair of aces. Haylie Clark just missed a double-double with 14 digs and nine assists, while Seman was right behind her with 13 digs. Natalie Cummins and Jenn Krzeminski made five blocks each.

-vs. Charleston: This season's first meeting with the Cougars (5-17, 2-8) saw Elon earn a five-set victory. The maroon and gold won sets two and four before edging the hosts 15-12 in the decisive set. It was the first win against the Cougars since a 3-2 final in Charleston on Oct. 15, 2006.

-Three players reached double-digit kills, with Daniel converting 19-of-53 attacks (.189) to lead the way. Trowse followed with 12 kills, and Nori Thomas was right behind her with 11. Garcia reached 27 assists and Clark added 24. Jordan Gower and Alex VanWestrienen both set season highs with 22 and 11 digs, respectively. Clark also reached double-digit digs with 16 for her fourth double-double of the season. Krzeminski made an impact at the net with six blocks (two solo).

PHOENIX EARNS SEASON SWEEP OF WILLIAM & MARY
The team got back in the win column Wednesday night, Oct. 30 with a straight-set victory at William & Mary. The Phoenix claimed the close first set 25-23 before cruising to a 25-13 decision in Set Two. Tied at 23-23 late in the third, Krzeminski scored a kill and the Tribe committed a set error to give away the match point. Elon improved to 10-5 in the all-time series with the result and has won four straight against the Tribe. Additionally, the team has now swept W&M in the regular-season for the second straight year and fourth time in the last five.

SUNDAY MARKS SENIOR DAY
This Sunday's match against Charleston marks Senior Day for the program. Elon will recognize seniors Elizabeth Coil and Nori Thomas prior to first serve against the Cougars.

UP NEXT
Elon rounds out the regular season with three road matches, starting with a Nov. 8 appointment with James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va. That match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start in Sinclair Gymnasium.
