Elon Falls To Furman On Tuesday Night

ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's basketball fell to Furman 97-61 on Tuesday, Nov. 26.
 
The Phoenix was led by junior forward Simon Wright who dropped 11 points, while grabbing seven rebounds in the contest. Hunter McIntosh led the team in scoring with 13 points, adding two assists and two steals on the night.
 
Furman was led by forward Mike Bothwell, who recorded 20 points, six rebounds and five assists.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
Simon Wright opened the game with a triple that put Elon on top 3-0 with just under 19 minutes to play in the first half. Both teams traded from there, but the Paladins took a 10-5 lead into the first media timeout
 
Elon entered the half trailing 46-30.
 
Early in the second half, with Elon down 66-39, a Hunter McIntosh triple cut sparked a 5-0 Elon run that brought the score to 66-44 with just under 10 minutes to play. With just under seven minutes remaining, Zac Erving knocked down three free throws that ignited another 5-0 Elon spurt capped by a Zac Ervin three to cut the deficit to 76-57.
 
The Paladins ended the game on a 21-4 run and earned a 97-61 victory over the Phoenix on Tuesday night.

NOTES
- With today's loss, Elon fell to 2-5 on the season.
- The Phoenix shot the ball 35.3 percent from the floor, including a 20.8 percent clip from beyond the arc.
- The Phoenix went to the line 24 times, making 20 of its attempts from the charity stripe
- Elon forced 10 Paladins turnovers

UP NEXT
The Phoenix will remain at home to take on UT Arlington on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28. That matchup is slated to begin at noon.
