ELON, N.C. – Senior Iñigo Bronte of the Elon University men's soccer team was selected to the Academic All-District 3 first team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 7.

The Pamplona, Spain, native earned the accolade for the first time in his career and was one of three strikers selected to the district 3 team. In his two seasons with the Phoenix, Bronte has been pivotal attacking force up top, scoring 11 total goals including tying for the team-lead with five in 2019 while seeing time in all 17 matches. He scored two goals at Delaware earlier this season, his third multi-goal match of his career, while also tallying a score in Elon's 3-2 win over Duke and in the Phoenix's 4-1 victory over College of Charleston.

A second team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection in 2018, Bronte is pursuing a degree in political science and has accumulated a grade-point-average of 3.891 at Elon.

CoSIDA's Academic All-America program began in 1952 and currently sponsors programs for men's soccer, women's soccer, football, volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball and men's and women's track and field/cross country, as well as student-athletes who compete in other sports through the At-Large program.  Among the criteria for nomination, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA and must have reached sophomore athletic eligibility.

The 2019 Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
