ELON, N.C. – Elon University offensive lineman
Olisaemeka Udoh has been invited to the NFL Combine to continue preparation for the 2019 NFL Draft at the end of April.
Â
Udoh, a standout participant in both the East-West Shrine Game and the Reese's Senior Bowl last month in Florida and Alabama, becomes the second Elon athlete invited to the NFL Combine and the first since
Aaron Mellette earned an invitation after the 2012 season. Mellette went on to be drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2013 NFL Draft.
Â
This year's NFL Combine includes 338 athletes selected to participate in the event at Lucas Oil Stadium, the home of the NFL's Indianapolis Colts. From Feb. 26 to March 4, all 32 NFL teams will take an up-close-and-personal look at the prospects as they go through measurements, medical examinations, psychological testing and on-field workouts.
Â
The Combine is staggered into positional groups over four-day intervals, wrapping up with the on-field workouts. This year, offensive linemen will workout on March 1.Â
Â
In all, Udoh is one of 14 FCS players selected to participate in the event. He is also one of three CAA Football athletes to take part in the event with the other two offensive lineman Ethan Greenidge of Villanova and safety Nasir Adderley of Delaware.
Â
Throughout his Elon career, Udoh started every game the Phoenix played in his four active years. In 2018, he started all 11 games and was named an All-American by Phil Steele, STATS FCS and HERO Sports. He earned First Team All-CAA Football honors this season after helping Elon amass a season average of 199.5 yards per game on the ground to finish second in the conference. He also helped the running game score 22 of Elon's 31 touchdowns throughout 2018 while playing a big role in keeping the quarterback upright with the unit only allowing 16 sacks on the season.
Â
The 2019 NFL Draft is slated for April 25-27 and will be held in Nashville, Tenn.
