RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University women's lacrosse attacker
Kaley Thompson has been named CAA Rookie of the Week after a strong week on offense and in the draw circle to put her name near the top of multiple program record lists.
Â
Last Wednesday at home against Winthrop, Thompson put together one of the most productive games in program history with four goals and four assists for eight points to go with eight draw controls in Elon's dominating 23-4 victory over Winthrop. The eight points marks the second-most by a Phoenix in a game in program history and it's the second-most points in a game this season by a CAA player. The four assists matched a program record for the most in a contest and the eight draw controls also tied for the third-most in a game in Elon history.
Â
In Elon's second game of the week, Thompson collected five more draw controls to put her total for the week at 13. In all, she leads Elon in the category with 19 on the season. With seven goals and five assists through four games, Thompson is second on the team with 12 points behind only
Mae McGlynn's 15 points.
Â
Thompson and the Phoenix will be back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 27, for the second game of its brief two-game road trip when it visits Davidson at 6:30 p.m.
