Elon Closes March with Tight 16-12 Loss at No. 23 High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Though putting together a strong second half on the offensive end of the field, Elon University women's lacrosse fell 16-12 to No. 23 High Point on Wednesday night, March 27, at Vert Stadium.

THE RUNDOWN
High Point (6-4) opened the day with a 4-1 run in the opening seven minutes to take the early lead, but Elon (2-8) answered with a 3-1 run of its own to close the margin to just one at 5-4 with 8:11 to go before halftime. Holding High Point off the board for 12:51 while making the run, the Panthers found their scoring touch in the final 6:35 of the half with four goals to take a 9-4 lead to the break.

Out of halftime, Mae McGlynn brought Elon back within four with her first and second goals of a five-goal half, but High Point again went on a run to take a 13-6 lead with 22:59 to play. Down the stretch, the Phoenix outscored the Panthers 6-3 to come as close as four again, but that was as close as Elon would get in the loss.
