HARRISONBURG, Va. – Fourth-seeded Elon University women's lacrosse had its season come to an end on Friday, May 3, with a 16-5 loss to top-seeded and ninth-ranked James Madison in the CAA Semifinals at Sentara Park.

THE RUNDOWN
Running with the two-time defending CAA champions over the course of the opening 15 minutes, Elon (6-12, 3-3 CAA) earned a pair of one-goal leads early on thanks to goals by
Mae McGlynn and
Kaley Thompson to put the Phoenix up 2-1 with 21:54 to go in the opening half. After JMU (15-3, 6-0 CAA) tied it with 20 minutes to play, McGlynn tallied again to put the Phoenix back on top 3-2 with 18:39 to go before halftime.

Leading for three more minutes, JMU tied things up again with 15:43 to go to start a 5-0 run that saw the Dukes take a 7-3 lead with 4:58 left. Though
Cami Lynch ended the run with her 17th goal of the season, JMU tallied once more in the closing minute to lead 8-4 at the break.

Out of halftime, JMU added three goals in the opening two minutes to turn the lead from four to seven. It also took control in the draw circle and won each of the half's first four possessions before Elon could gain possession and get its first shot of the half with 25:22 left in the game. Down the stretch, the Dukes continued to pull away on the way to the 16-5 victory to advance to its fifth-straight CAA title game.

HIGHLIGHTS
Thompson and McGlynn both scored twice to lead the Phoenix offense. Lynch's first-half goal rounded out the scoring output with
Shannon Horan adding two assists for the second game in a row. Horan also added a team-best three ground balls with
Quinn Daly and
Palmer Voorhees adding two apiece.Â
Maddie McDaniel scored a game-high four goals with Logan Brennan and Hanna Haven scoring twice with one assist apiece. McDaniel finished with nine draw controls and Lauren Duvall and Emma Johnson finished with three ground balls.

Paulina DiFatta closed the season with a program-record 160 stops, passing
Rachel Ramirez's mark of 154 in 2014.
-Closing the season with 42 goals,
Mae McGlynn finishes the 2019 season with the third-most goals in a season in program history.

Gillian Curran's nine assists checked in as the ninth-most in a season in program history. It's also the third-most by a rookie in a single season.
