ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's basketball fell to Drexel, 63-41, on Thursday, Jan. 16.

The Phoenix was led by freshman guardÂ
Hunter McIntosh, who dropped 12 points and a career-high eight rebounds on the evening. Senior guard Marcus Sheffield chipped in 10 points, three rebounds and four steals.

Drexel was led by Camren Wynter, who recorded 27 points and five rebounds in the contest. James Butler (15 pts & 15 reb) and Zach Walton (16 pts & 11 reb) each recorded a double-double.

HIGHLIGHTS
Both sides traded baskets early in the game, with neither team gaining a decisive advantage. McIntosh scored eight of the Phoenix's first 11 points to start the night, powering the team to an 11-8 advantage.Â
Chuck Hannah's first three pointer of the season accounted for Elon's remaining three points early on.

With Elon trailing 14-12 with just under five minutes to play in the opening half, McIntosh knocked down a long-two to knot things up at 14. Moments later, aÂ

Hunter Woods triple, capped a 7-0 run that put the Phoenix on top 19-14 with just under three minutes remaining until the break.

Elon entered the half leading by one. 21-20.
After an early Drexel run to start the second half, Marcus Sheffield drained a step-back three to spark a 7-0 Elon run. During the spurt, Ervin got free from his defender on a back-door cut whereÂ
Federico Poser found him for an easy deuce. Shortly after, Sheffield dropped in a tough layup to get the Phoenix back within six.

Drexel got hot from there, taking control of the game in the final minutes to secure the victory.
