Men's Tennis Heads to Campbell on Saturday

ELON, N.C.- Elon University men's tennis travels to Buies Creek for a 1:00 p.m. make-up match against Campbell on Saturday, Feb. 22. The match was originally scheduled to occur at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, but was postponed due to rain.
 
COVERAGE
There will be no live stats or video for the match.
 
THE SERIES
-Elon holds a 9-1 record against the Camels.
 
ABOUT ELON
-The Phoenix enters the match with a 2-4 record.
-Elon was victorious in its last match, defeating Longwood 4-3. The match was highlighted by Kyle Frankel, who defeated Amadeo Blasco in singles to secure the win for the Phoenix. After dropping the first set, Frankel took the last two to ultimately win 5-7, 6-2, 6-2. 
-The maroon and gold also came out on top in two of its three doubles matches. Camilo Ponce and Sam Dively started off with a 6-1 victory, while Chung-Han Tsai and Dino Bonetta picked up a 6-3 win over Longwood's Marc Casanovas and Guiherme Sergio.
-Elon is led by sixteenth-year head coach and reigning CAA Coach of the Year Michael Leonard.
 
DEFENDING CHAMPIONS
-The Phoenix enters the season as the defending CAA champions. Last April, Elon made a comeback to upset two-time defending champion UNCW, 4-3, and capture the conference title for the first time in program history. With the win, the Phoenix earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, where it made its first appearance since 2014.
-Frankel was selected as the Most Outstanding Performer at the 2019 CAA Men's Tennis Championship in a vote by the league's coaches. He went 3-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles.
 
SCOUTING CAMPBELL
-The Camels enter the match with an 1-2 record.
-Campbell earned its first win of the season against NC Central on Feb. 17, 6-1. The Camels started the match by going 3-0 in doubles to earn its first point before recording 5 wins in singles to get the victory.
