CARY, N.C. – Three Elon University men's tennis players competed in the singles qualifying draw Thursday at ITA Carolina Regionals, with sophomore
Nikola Parichkov advancing to the main draw with a pair of victories. The tournament is being held at the Cary Tennis Park.
Parichkov came from a set down in his opening-round victory, rallying to defeat Wofford's Julian Brager-Carlsen, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. Later in the day, Parichkov dispatched Presbyterian's Daksh Prasad, 7-6 (4), 6-1, to secure one of the 16 qualifier spots into the main singles draw.
Jack Curtis also won a first-round qualifying match, knocking off Noah Gabriel of NC State, 6-3, 6-3. He lost his second-round match to fall just short of the main draw.
Main draw action in singles begins Friday, with Parichkov joining
Veljko Krstic in the bracket. The doubles competition also starts Friday with three Elon pairs set to compete.
