RICHMOND, Va. – In response to the unexpected cancellation of the 2020 CAA Women's Basketball Championship, presented by Sonabank, the event will return to the campus of Elon University and Schar Center in March 2021.
The Conference's 10 athletic directors voted in favor of the decision as a show of support for Elon. Elon was in the midst of hosting the 2020 championship before it was canceled prior to the quarterfinals due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Each of the schools scheduled to host the ensuing four championships will host a year later than originally announced. After returning to Schar Center next season, the 2022 championship will take place in James Madison's new Atlantic Union Bank Center before moving on to Towson's SECU Arena in 2023, Drexel's Daskalakis Athletic Center in 2024 and William & Mary's Kaplan Arena in 2025. Elon women's basketball claimed the CAA Tournament titles last time the events were held at James Madison in 2017 and Drexel in 2018.
More information about the 2021 CAA Tournament at Schar Center will be made available at a later date.
