ELON, N.C. – Elon University women's basketball improved to 5-1 on the season on Nov. 29 as the Phoenix registered a 22-point win over NC Central, 73-51.

Ajia James gave us a great spark off the bench and was able to gain some confidence tonight. Overall, it was a great team win. I'm proud of our effort."

THE RUNDOWN
-With the score tied at seven, the Eagles went on a 5-0 to bring their score up to 12. However, back-to-back three pointers from
Ariana Nance erased that lead to put Elon up by one (13-12). NC Central ended the quarter with a shot from deep to end the quarter with a two-point advantage (15-13).
-The Phoenix held the Eagles to single-digit scoring in the second quarter, outscoring the Eagles 21-7 to make the halftime score 34-22.
-Elon pushed its lead to 17 on a fast break layup by Nance with 8:39 on the clock (41-24). NC Central whittled the maroon and gold lead down to 12, but Phoenix scored five unanswered points to force an Eagle timeout (48-31). Elon outscored NC Central 10-7 in the remaining time to put the Phoenix up by 20 going into the fourth (58-38).
-The Phoenix took its largest lead of the night (28) on a jumper by
Bria Harmon with 3:09 on the clock. The Eagles outscored the maroon and gold 7-1 as time ran out, with
Duru Tasman scoring the final Phoenix point. But NC Central came up short.

Brie Perpignan paced the Phoenix scoring (17), ending the game just one assist shy of a double-double. The senior also tied her career high in shots from deep (3). Â Â Â
-Nance and Harmon also had double-digit scoring performances, recording 13 and 10, respectively.
-Six of Harmon's points came from behind the charity stripe, marking a new single-game high for an Elon player this season (6-6).
-Both James and
Peyton Carter set new career highs in scoring with eight points apiece. James' career and team-high 10 rebounds tied the individual single-game best for the Phoenix on the season. Carter's five boards were also a personal best.

Tyja Traore delivered a season-high seven points in addition to a career-best seven rebounds. Â Â

Kayla Liles matched her season high in steals (3). The senior has now registered three steals in three of the past four games.
-Elon outrebounded NC Central 45-36.
-The Phoenix's bench outscored the Eagles' 34-16.
-Elon's margin of victory against the Eagles (22) marks a new season high.
