ELON, N.C. – The Elon University football team continues its road swing this Saturday, March 27, as the Phoenix faces No. 20 Richmond in a CAA Football road test. The matchup is set for a 4 p.m. kickoff at Robins Stadium.

Series History
• Elon and Richmond are meeting each other for the 12
th time on the football field this Saturday and it's the second matchup between the two programs this 2021 spring campaign.
• The Spiders own an 8-3 all-time advantage over the maroon and gold in the series including registering a 38-14 triumph over the Phoenix earlier this season on March 13 in Elon.
• The Phoenix took a 42-20 decision over the Spiders the last time the two teams played in Richmond on Sept. 14, 2019.
Davis Cheek threw a career-best five touchdown passes for the 25
th-ranked Phoenix in that contest.

Last Time Out
• Playing its first CAA Football road game of the 2021 spring season, the Phoenix suffered a 31-10 setback at William & Mary last Saturday, March 20.
•
Jaylan Thomas led the Phoenix on the ground with 43 yards on 14 carries. He also led the Phoenix with 45 receiving yards on a career-high five receptions and one touchdown.

Justin Allen and
JR Martin split time at quarterback for the Phoenix. Allen made his first career start and threw for 34 yards and added 13 more on the ground. Martin relieved Allen in the second half and threw for a touchdown for the third straight week and finished the game with 108 yards in the air.
• Defensively, Elon forced three William & Mary turnovers. The Phoenix recovered three fumbles by the Tribe from
Bryce Graves,
Tre'Von Jones and
Jalen Greene. Greene also forced a fumble as well.

Omar Rogers had eight tackles in the game to lead Elon while Graves added seven stops with 1.5 tackles for loss and a pass breakup

• The Spiders come into today's contest ranked No. 20 in the latest 2021 AFCA FCS Coaches' Spring Top 25 Poll. Richmond currently sits at 2-0 on the season after wins over William & Mary and Elon to start its campaign.
• Richmond's contest versus James Madison last week was postponed due to COVID-19 protocols within the Dukes' program.
• The Spiders are averaging 29.5 points per game and are posting 352.5 yards per contest of total offense. Redshirt senior quarterback Joe Mancuso is 28th overall in the nation in total offense at 226.5 yards per game.
• Defensively, Richmond is allowing 14 points per game, which is 11th in the country. The Spiders' defense is even more stout to opposing ball carriers, ranking ninth in the nation in rushing yards allowed at 72.0 per game.
