ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's tennis outlasted UNC Greensboro, 4-3, on Thursday, April 15. The win moved the Phoenix to 12-5 overall this season, including a 10-1 mark at home.
 
"It was a very tight match," head coach Michael Leonard stated. "I'm proud of the guys for persevering through a tough UNCG team."
 
HIGHLIGHTS
-Akram El Sallaly clinched the match for the Phoenix, outlasting Ollie Palmer 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in the No. 1 spot. It was his 11^th singles victory of the season, tying him with Kyle Frankel for most on the team.
- Camilo Ponce defeated Hugh Knapp in straight-sets 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 3 position.
- In No. 4 singles, Nicholas Campbell defeated Alexander Zuckerman 6-4, 6-2. Campbell moved to 7-1 in singles this season with the win.
- Chung-Han Tsai rounded out the singles wins for Elon, defeating Roger Rogowski 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 5 spot.
- The combination of Kyle Frankel and Camilo Ponce remained undefeated this season (5-0) after taking down Christopher Johns and Alexander Zuckerman 6-2 in No. 2 doubles.
- Prior to the match, Elon honored senior Jacob Bicknell for his contributions to the program over the last five years.
 
UP NEXT
The Phoenix will travel to Durham, N.C. for a matchup with NC Central. That match is slated to begin a 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 18.
