Men's Tennis Hosts James Madison in Regular-Season Finale Friday

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men's tennis team wraps up its regular season on Friday, April 23 when it faces off against James Madison at Jimmy Powell Tennis Center at 3:00 p.m.

THE SERIES
-Elon leads the overall series 5-0.
-The maroon and gold swept the Dukes in their last meeting on March 7, 2019, 7-0.
 
ABOUT THE PHOENIX
-Elon enters the match with a 13-5 record, including a 10-1 record at home.
-The Phoenix earned a 7-0 victory over NC Central in its last match on April 18.
-Nicholas Condos clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Amit Baran in No. 2 singles.
-Kyle Frankel defeated Stipan Madzar 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 1 spot for his team-leading 12th singles victory of the season. 
-In No. 3 singles, Camilo Ponce outlasted Sebastian Pino 3-6, 7-6 (9-7), 10-7 in a three-set battle for his 10th singles win of the season.
-Nicholas Campbell posted his eighth singles victory of the season, beating Shaka Cristellotti 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 spot. Campbell improved to 8-1 on the season in singles with the win.
-Chung-Han Tsai rounded out the singles sweep for the Phoenix with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Miles Clark in the No. 5 position.
-The duo of Akram El Sallaly and Tsai clinched the doubles point, defeating Pino and Madzar 6-1. The win was their 10th doubles victory of the season.
-In No. 2 doubles, Condos and Campbell delivered a 6-4 victory over Baran and Cristellotti. It was the first match for the duo this season.  
-The Phoenix is led by 17th year head coach Michael Leonard.
 
SCOUTING JAMES MADISON
-The Dukes enter the match with a 7-6 record on the season, winning three of their last four matches.
-James Madison won their last match against Norfolk State on April 18, 6-1.
-The Dukes are coached by Steve Secord.
 
SENIOR DAY
El Sallaly will be honored prior to the match as part of his senior recognition.
 
UP NEXT
The Phoenix will compete in the CAA Tournament beginning on April 29 in Williamsburg, Va.
