ELON, N.C. – The Elon University softball team welcomes College of Charleston to Hunt Softball Park for its final home series of the season this weekend, April 24-25. The Phoenix and the Cougars open the three-game Colonial Athletic Association set on Saturday at 11 a.m. before concluding the weekend with a doubleheader on Sunday starting at 1 p.m.

Series Breakdown
• Elon trails the Cougars in the all-time series, 32-26, but the Phoenix has won seven of the past nine contests in the series.
• The Phoenix swept the Cougars in a three-game set earlier this season at CofC, its third straight series victory over Charleston.
• In the three-game sweep at Charleston earlier this season, Elon scored 20 runs while allowing only four against the Cougars. Senior Ally Repko batted .571 in the series with a pair of home runs and eight RBI. She also posted a 1.571 slugging percentage.
• Elon's pitching staff had a 1.05 ERA versus the Cougars, who had a 4.90 ERA in comparison. McKenzie Weber tossed a complete game shutout in the series finale, a 3-0 win for the Phoenix. It was the first shutout of the year for Weber and the second complete game for the Overland Park, Kan., native.
 
Last Time Out
• Elon was swept on the road at No. 24 James Madison last weekend, April 17-18, to fall to 6-6 overall in the CAA standings.
• The Phoenix played the Dukes tough in the opening game on Saturday, April 17, three times taking the lead over JMU. The Dukes however was able to answer each time before winning 10-9 on a walk-off run in the seventh.
• JMU completed the sweep of the Phoenix on Sunday, April 18, with a pair of 8-2 wins in a doubleheader.
 
Quick Hits
• Going into the weekend, the Phoenix sits third in the CAA South Division with its 6-6 ledger, trailing James Madison (11-1) and UNCW (7-5) for the top-two automatic spots from each division for the league's championship tournament.
• The Phoenix leads the CAA in walks with 120 with Repko ranking second in the league with 21 free passes. Sophomore Megan Grant is sixth in the CAA with 16 walks.
• As a team, Elon is hitting .248 with 142 runs scored to go with 30 home runs and 129 RBI. Four players in the Phoenix's lineup are hitting north of .300 in Rebecca Murray (.347), Mekayla Frazier (.329), Gabi Schaal (.326) and Repko (.304).
• Murray ranks 16th in the nation as the toughest player to strike out as the Indian Trail, N.C., native has struck out only twice this season in 95 at bats.
• Graduate student Kenna Quinn leads the Phoenix in the majority of the pitching categories; ERA (3.68), wins (seven), innings (78.0) and strikeouts (35). Fellow grad student Alexa Nemeth is second on the team in wins (four), innings (41.2) and strikeouts (30).
 
Scouting College of Charleston
• CofC enters the weekend series at 6-29 overall and a 0-12 ledger in the CAA in 2021. The Cougars were swept last weekend at UNCW, extending its current losing streak to eight games.
• The Cougars are led offensively by freshman catcher Shealyn Starks, who is hitting .293 while tying for the team-lead in RBI with 14. Sophomore Payton Wade also has driven in 14 runs while hitting a team-best five home runs for CofC.
• Six pitchers have taken turns toeing the rubber for the Cougars this season with five of them seeing action in 19.0 innings or more. As a unit, CofC has a 5.84 cumulative ERA with 149 strikeouts in 213.1 innings of action.
 
On Deck
The Phoenix concludes the regular season at UNCW next weekend, May 1-2, starting with a doubleheader on Saturday at 12 p.m. followed by the series finale next Sunday at 12 p.m.
