Elon Returns Home To Host Charleston Sunday Afternoon

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men's soccer team returns to action tomorrow, April 4, when it hosts College of Charleston in a 4 p.m. matchup at Rudd Field on Elon's campus.

THE MATCHUP
• This marks the 23rd time Elon and Charleston will meet in a match in program history, with the Elon leading 8-12-2 in the all-time series.
• Elon defeated Charleston, 4-1, in the most recent meeting between the two programs in 2019.
 
ABOUT ELON
• Head coach Marc Reeves is entering his fourth season at the helm of the Phoenix program. Reeves spent seven years as the head coach at Radford prior to joining Elon in 2017.
• The Phoenix is off to a 1-5 start to the season after falling to Campbell, 3-2, in its most recent outing.
• Christian Lauenborg leads the team in total points (4), posting one goal and two assists through five games played.
• Jake Kelly, Victor Stromsten and Jannik Vidabaek are tied for second on the team in points (3), each logging one goal and one assist so far this season.
Mattias Cooper, Jack Edwards and Marco Vesterholm have two points on the year with each player scoring one goal this season.
• Jack Dolk is tied for the team-lead in assists with two.
• Cameron Pelle is 1-3 in goal for the Phoenix this season, racking up 13 saves along the way.
 
SCOUTING CHARLESTON
• The Cougars are off to a 0-3-3 start to this season after falling to James Madison, 2-1, in its most recent outing.
• Charleston is in the midst of its first season under Keith Wiggans, who served as an assistant coach with the program for 11 seasons prior to being named the head coach.
• The Cougars are led by Jakob Kristensen, who leads the team in goals (1) and points (2).
• Cameron Smith is expected to be in the net for Charleston. Smith has one shutout so far this season, making nine saves along the way.
 
UP NEXT
The Phoenix will be back in action on Saturday, April 10, when it hosts William & Mary in a 4 p.m. contest at Rudd Field.
