ELON, N.C.— The Elon University women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season on Aug. 22 as it dropped a 1-0 decision to UNCG.
THE RUNDOWN
-The lone goal of the night was scored in the 18
th minute when UNCG's Nicole Souply found the back of the net to give the Spartans the lead.
-Despite outshooting UNCG 18-10 over the course of the match, the Phoenix was unable to add to its score.
-Elon's last chance to tie the score came when
Makenzie DePriest-Kessler took a shot on target in the 87
th minute. But the ball was saved by the goalkeeper.
NOTES
-DePriest-Kessler paced the maroon and gold in shots taken (4), followed by
Kelly Degnan,
Claire Broderdorp and
Molly Mahoney with two apiece.
-Five Elon players recorded a shot on goal, DePriest-Kessler,
Sarah Bevington,
Beky Myers, Degnan and Broderdorp.
-
McKenna Dalfonso (1-1) totaled three saves on the night.
-With the loss, Elon falls to 1-1 on the season.
