RICHMOND, Va. – Scott Vatne of the Elon University men's soccer team was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association's Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday morning, Aug. 30.
 
Vatne helped the Phoenix to a 2-1 win over Merrimack in its season-opener last Friday, Aug. 27, at Duke University. The Klepp, Norway, native scored a goal off a free kick in the 77^th minute of the contest to tie the match as Elon would earn the eventual 2-1 victory over the Warriors. Vatne ended up playing 77 minutes in his first collegiate match.
 
The Phoenix is back in action tonight, hosting Liberty in its home opener at Rudd Field. The contest is slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
