Richmond, Va. – Elon University redshirt senior kicker
Skyler Davis has been named CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week after breaking the program's record for career field goals made.
Davis made kicks of 51 yards and 48 yards Saturday in No. 14/18 Elon's 27-10 win over Towson. Those field goals were the 60
th and 61
st of his career, passing the previous record holder Andrew Wilcox (59 made field goals from 2005-08). With 61 career field goals made, Davis is tied for the 15
th most in FCS history.
Along with those field goals, Davis was perfect on three extra point attempts, adding five touchbacks on six kick-offs. The only time he did not have a kickoff in the end zone was on a squib kick to run out the clock in the first half that was returned just three yards.
Elon improved to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in CAA Football play with Saturday's win. The Phoenix head on the road for the next two weeks, playing at Rhode Island Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and at New Hampshire Oct. 22 at 1:00 p.m.
