ELON, N.C. – The Elon University volleyball team plays its second consecutive home series Saturday and Sunday against CAA rival College of Charleston. Both matches at Schar Center will begin at 2 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
- Elon earned a weekend split with previously undefeated Towson, ending the Tigers' 18-match winning streak with a five-set victory on Saturday. The Phoenix fell short in Sunday's rematch, losing in four sets.
- With her 10th kill in Saturday's third set, Leah Daniel became Elon's all-time career leader during the maroon and gold's upset victory over the Tigers. The senior finished the match with a team-high 16 kills.
- Jordan Gower finished with 27 digs on Saturday, including nine of Elon's 13 digs in the opening set. She added another 15 on Sunday to lead the team.
- Sydney Love racked up 22 kills and eight blocks across the two matches. It was the second time in CAA play that Love had double-digit kills in both matches of a weekend series, the other coming when she had 13 on both Sept. 24 and 25 against William & Mary.
- Haylie Clark averaged 5.88 assists per set for the weekend and picked up a double-double on Sunday with 29 assists and 10 digs. She also had 44 attacks and 16 kills in the two matches, her most in both categories in a weekend series this season.
- For the second time this season, Ericka Link delivered double-digit assists in back-to-back matches, as the junior finished with 19 on Saturday and 14 on Sunday. She also earned her first kill of the season in Saturday's victory.
- Freshman Brooke Doherty tallied six kills on Sunday, including one that clinched the third set for Elon. It was the ninth time this season she had at least five kills in a match.
- The Phoenix won four sets in two matches against Towson. The Tigers had lost just five sets all season entering the series.
- Elon is the only CAA team to win sets in both matches of a weekend series against Towson this season.
PHOENIX FACTS
- Elon holds a 4-4 CAA record and is 7-11 overall. The Phoenix is in a four-way tie for fourth in the conference standings.
- Leah Daniel ranks fourth in the CAA in both kills (237) and kills per set (3.29). The senior has surpassed 10 kills in 17 matches this season and leads the Phoenix in aces with 21.
- Jordan Gower is tied for 28th in the NCAA and leads the CAA with 4.83 digs per set. The senior has registered double-digit digs in all her appearances this season and has eclipsed 20 digs five times.
- Haylie Clark ranks No. 3 in the CAA in assists per set (8.07) and No. 4 in total assists (589). The senior has registered 10 double-doubles this season, including three in her last six matches.
- Jenn Krzeminski (1.01), Lily Emlong (1.00) and Sydney Love (0.97) are sixth, seventh and eighth in the CAA in blocks per set, respectively. Krzeminski also leads Elon and ranks No. 8 in the conference with a hitting percentage of .287.
- Alex VanWestrienen has recorded double-digit digs in three consecutive matches, which is tied for the longest streak of her career from the 2021 spring season
- Freshmen Clara LaRue trails only Daniel and Love in kills per set for the Phoenix (1.94), while fellow freshman Brooke Doherty is fourth on the team with 1.74 kills per set.
- As a team, Elon ranks No. 3 in both digs per set (15.07) and blocks per set (2.27). The Phoenix also boasts an opponent hitting percentage of .199, the fourth best in the league.
THE MATCHUP
- The Cougars hold a 32-5 advantage in the head-to-head series between the teams.
- Elon swept a weekend series against Charleston in their last meetings on Sept. 17-18, 2021. The maroon and gold won both matches in four sets.
- The Phoenix has won three of the last six matches against the Cougars, with all the wins coming at Charleston.
- Elon has never defeated College of Charleston in a home match. Four of Elon's five wins in the series have come on the road with the other coming at a neutral site.
- Since the two schools joined the Colonial Athletic Association from the Southern Conference, Charleston has won 13 of the 16 matches between the teams.
SCOUTING COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON
- The Cougars enter the weekend with a 9-12 overall record and a 4-4 mark in CAA matches. They hold a 2-5 record on the road this season.
- Charleston posted two straight set victories last weekend against Northeastern.
- With 2.29 blocks per match, the Cougars rank No. 2 in the CAA in the category.
- Charleston is fourth in the CAA in digs per set (14.59) and fifth in kills per set (12.45).
- Claire Campbell ranks No. 4 in the conference in hitting percentage (.368), while Gabi Bailey is No. 9 in kills per set (2.92). Bailey's 23 aces are also the ninth most in the league.
- Emma Falk's 83 blocks are the third most in the CAA this season also ranks and her 1.28 blocks per set rank second. The senior was named CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Week after registering 16 blocks (2.67 per set) against Northeastern.
- Tynley Smeltzer has 218 digs this season (3.76 per set) to rank No. 5 in the CAA.
- Emma Appleman is Charleston's lead setter this season with 376 assists (5.88 per set).
- The Cougars are led by 16th year head coach Jason Kepner.
