ELON, N.C. – After helping the Elon University men's soccer team to a pair of victories last week, seniors Mason Duval and Vemund Hole Vik were honored on a pair of National Teams of the Week on Tuesday, Oct. 25.
 
Duval was selected to the College Soccer News Team of the Week and was an honorable mention on Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Week. Duval's performance on the offensive end helped the Phoenix to victories over North Carolina and College of Charleston as the George Town, Cayman Islands, native scored a goal in each match. His goal versus the Tar Heels was his third game-winner of the year to help Elon to its first-ever victory over UNC. He later added his team-best seventh goal of the season versus College of Charleston in the Phoenix's 3-2 win over the Cougars. Duval was also honored as the Colonial Athletic Association's Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
 
Hole Vik was selected to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week, the second time this season he has been recognized by the publication. The Aalesund, Norway, native helped the Phoenix to its ninth shutout of the season in its 3-0 victory over the Tar Heels while also contributing offensively with an assist in the contest. Hole Vik scored the game-winning goal in the 79^th minute against College of Charleston on Saturday, securing the Phoenix a top-two seed for the CAA tournament.
 
CAA-leader Elon (10-3-2, 6-1-1 CAA) will travel to second place UNCW (6-3-5, 5-1-2 CAA) to close out the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 29. A Phoenix victory or tie will give the maroon and gold its first outright CAA regular season title and its first conference championship of any kind since 2015.
