Richmond, Va. – Elon University redshirt freshman tight end
Johncarlos Miller II has been named the CAA Football Rookie of the Week. Miller made multiple big plays as No. 23 Elon defeated No. 17/22 Richmond 30-27 in double overtime Saturday.

Miller first made his presence felt late in the second quarter. With the score tied at 14-14, Richmond lined up for a 48-yard field goal attempt to take the lead. But Miller blocked the attempt to send the game to the break all tied up.
With the score tied at 17-17 heading to overtime, Miller again came up with a big play. On the first offensive play of the overtime session, he caught his first career touchdown as he was able to leak out and make the 25-yard scoring strike.
Miller is the third member of the Elon football team to be recognized as a CAA Player of the Week. Punter
Jeff Yurk was named Special Teams Player of the Week following the win over Wofford, while
Marcus Hillman earned Defensive Player of the Week honors after the win over William & Mary.
Now 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in CAA Football, Elon will host Towson Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
