SETTING THE SCENE

Elon returns to the playoffs for the first time since 2018 as the Phoenix heads on the road to face Furman at 12 p.m. Saturday. No. 12/15 Elon enters the game with an 8-3 record, while No. 11 Furman is 9-2 heading into the postseason.
Elon and Furman met in the 2017 FCS playoffs in Rhodes Stadium. Furman earned the 28-27 victory when Elon's potential game-tying extra point was blocked in the fourth quarter. Two current Elon players, Torrence Williams and Michael Purcell, were members of that 2017 squad.
Elon would earn its ninth win of the season with a victory, which would tie the 1999 and 2009 teams for the most wins as an FCS team.
