ELON, N.C. - Elon University women's tennis won its home opener on Saturday, Feb. 12, outlasting Campbell, 4-3, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. The victory was the second in a row for the Phoenix this season and its second consecutive win over the Camels.
 
"I'm proud of the team for coming out with so much energy in doubles and competing so well today," head coach Elizabeth Anderson opened. "Julie and Sibel got the momentum going in singles with their great focus and positive energy - and set Ali up to clinch. Ali competed very hard and played with so much heart and determination. We are looking forward to playing Gardner Webb tomorrow."

HIGHLIGHTS
- Alison O'Dea clinched the match for the Phoenix in the No. 6 position, defeating Marianna Ossa in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. It was the first singles victory of the year for O'Dea and moved her to .500 (1-1) in the No. 6 slot.
- Julie Ball got things going for Elon in singles play, making quick work of Anna-Marie Kopecka 6-1, 6-1. The win marked her second straight and moved her to 2-2 in the No. 3 spot.
- Sibel Tanik rounded out the singles wins for the Phoenix, defeating Mialy Ranaivo of Campbell, 6-2, 6-2 in straight sets. With the win, Tanik now has a 2-2 tally overall this season and holds the same mark in No. 1 singles.
- Victoria Saldh and Julie Ball continued to lead the way for Elon in doubles, clinching the point on Court 2 by defeating Mariana Ossa and Marissa Pennings 6-2. It was the duos second straight victory and moved them to 2-2 this season.
- The combination of Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding got the ball rolling for the Phoenix in doubles play, as the tandem took down Rhona Cook and Mialy Ranaivo 6-2 to secure their first victory together this season.

Elon returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 13, when it hosts Gardner-Webb in a 5:30 p.m. matchup at the Piedmont Indoor Courts.
