Elon Football Adds Three To 2022 National Signing Class

Elon, N.C. - Elon University head football coach Tony Trisciani announced the commitment of three student-athletes during the February National Signing Day Wednesday. Along with 14 commitments in November during the early signing period, Elon's 2022 recruiting class now stands at 17 members.
 
FULL RELEASE OF ENTIRE 2022 CLASS

Two transfers were announced among the group of three Wednesday. Trisciani and his staff added a fourth offensive lineman to the class, along with a kicker and a wide receiver. Eight of the 17 members of the class hail from North Carolina.

Listed below are full bios of the three newest members of the 2022 recruiting class.
 
Cornell Hendrick Jr.CORNELL HENDRICK JR. | WR | 6-0 | 180 | Warrenton, N.C. | Warren County| Old Dominion
Prior to Elon: Spent three seasons at Old Dominion, redshirting in 2018 and playing the 2019 and 2021 seasons … Played in 17 career games at ODU, finishing with nine receptions for 56 yards … Started three times during the 2019 season … Also returned two punts and caught a two-point conversion attempt against Western Kentucky … As a high school senior, caught 53 passes for 775 yards and seven touchdowns, while rushing 29 times for 246 yards and four more scores … Added 49 tackles and nine interceptions on defense … Selected to play in the prestigious Blue-Grey All-American Bowl in Dallas … Two-time football team MVP and also team MVP in basketball.

Prior to Elon: Graduated from Suffield Academy in December after spending four years playing varsity football … First-team All-NEPSAC in 2021 … Second-team All-Northeast Prep Conference in 2021 … Team went 9-0 and was the undefeated NEPSAC class A champion in 2019 … Squad added a 7-3 campaign in 2018 … Football team captain in 2021 … Also lettered in wrestling and track & field … Named to the Headmasters List for a grade point average of 3.9 or higher.

Jake MarionJAKE MARION | K | 5-11 | 180 | Winston-Salem, N.C. | North Davidson | Georgia State
Prior to Elon: Spent the 2021 season at Georgia State, redshirting … Named to Georgia State's President's List, the school's highest academic distinction signifying a semester GPA of 4.0 or higher … Earned four varsity letters at North Davidson High School and was a team captain … Three-time all-conference player (2018, 2019, 2021), two-time all-county player (2019, 2021), two-time all-Northwest (2019, 2021) and 2021 all-state … Team won a regional championship and was state runner-up in 2018 … Earned conference titles in 2017 and 2021 … Averaged 44.1 yards per punt as a senior with a 77 percent touchback rate … Went 2-for-2 on field goals, connecting from 40 and 47 yards … Also lettered in track & field.
