Perpignan Named Second Team All-Conference Selection

RICHMOND, Va.-- The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) announced on Wednesday, March 8 that senior Brie Perpignan was tabbed All-CAA Second Team. This is the first time she received a postseason all-conference honor.

"I am extremely pleased with the coaches of our league recognizing the greatness of Brie Perpignan," said head coach Charlotte Smith. "While she was humbled to be considered preseason honorable mention, she was hungry to prove herself as one of the best in the league. She has done a phenomenal job of leading this team and this honor is well deserved."

Perpignan has been the leading scorer for the maroon and gold. Starting in all 28 games this season, the guard led the team in points per game (16.7). Over the course of the season, she recorded 25 double-digit scoring performances, including eight 20+-point games. Earlier this season against James Madison, the Upper Marlboro native set a new career high in single-game points (34) while also scoring her 1,000th-career point to become the 25th member of the 1,000-point club in program history. During nonconference, she posted a pair of double-doubles against Richmond (10 ast., 11 pts.) and Gardner-Webb (12 reb., 18 pts.).

In addition to being a scorer for the Phoenix, Perpignan has been a key playmaker for the maroon and gold. Totaling a team-best 152 assists, the guard ranks seventh in program history in single-season assists. Her 351 career assists are also ninth in the team's record books.

At the conference level, Perpignan made her way into the top 10 in several categories, including assists per game (T-2nd, 5.4), assist/turnover ratio (T-4th, 1.5), points per game (5th) and field goal percentage (10th, .410). Her assists per game also rank 23rd in the nation.

Fourth-seeded Elon plays in the quarterfinals of the CAA Women's Basketball Championship against fifth-seeded College of Charleston on Friday, March 11 at 2:30 p.m.
