– The Center for Race, Ethnicity, & Diversity Education at Elon University recognized 24 Phoenix student-athletes as part of the 29th Annual Phillips-Perry Black Excellence Awards Virtual Ceremony on April 23, 2022.
The mission of the Phillips-Perry Black Excellence Awards Banquet is to recognize, celebrate and affirm the presence of Black students at Elon University. Black identified students are grouped into three categories based on their earned cumulative grade point average: Maroon (3.2-3.49), Gold (3.5-3.79), and Phoenix (3.8-4.0).
In addition, Jaylan Thomas from the Elon football team was recognized as the winner of the Excellence In Academic Service Learning Award for excelling in one of five Elon Experiences. Samantha Dominguez of the women's soccer team earned the highest GPA for the class of 2022.
