ELON, N.C. - Elon University women's tennis opened the 2022 CAA Women's Tennis Championship with a 4-0 quarterfinals win over fifth-seeded UNCW on Friday, April 29, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center in Elon, N.C.
 
"I'm really proud of the team," head coach Elizabeth Anderson opened. "I thought we came out and competed really hard against a very strong UNCW team. We feel fortunate to get this win and be able to advance to the semifinals. We're excited to be able to compete again tomorrow against a really good Charleston program."
 
With the win the Phoenix has now made it to the semifinals round of the CAA Tournament in each season that it has been a member of the league.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Olivia Archer got the ball rolling for Elon in singles play, making quick work of Stela Joksimovic 6-2, 6-1 in straight sets. Archer picked up her team-leading 17^th victory of the season in the match and now sits at 7-0 in the No. 4 position.
- Shauna Galvin continued her strong play this season, taking down Lauren Robbins 6-2, 6-1 to give Elon a 3-0 lead in the match. With the win Galvin moved to 9-2 overall this season and holds a 6-1 mark in the No. 6 slot.
- Sibel Tanik clinched the match for the Phoenix, outlasting Sasha Belaya 6-4, 6-3 in No. 1 singles. The win marked Tanik's 13^th win overall this year and was her eighth in her last 10 outings.
- The combination of Archer and Alison O'Dea sparked the momentum for Elon in doubles play, defeating Anna Daniels and Brinley Bell 6-3. The win moved the combo to 12-8 overall with a 10-8 mark in the No. 3 position.
- The tandem of Victoria Saldh and Julie Ball clinched the doubles point for the Phoenix, outlasting Joksimovic and Zoe Huffman 6-2 in No. 2 doubles. The duo picked up its 10^th victory of the season in the match and has now won four of its last five outings.

Elon returns to action tomorrow, April 30, for a 10 a.m. matchup with top-seeded Charleston in the semifinals of the 2022 CAA Tournament at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on Elon's campus.
