ELON, N.C. - Elon University women's tennis battled back to defeat top-seeded Charleston, 4-3, in the semifinals of the 2022 CAA Women's Tennis Championship on Saturday, April 30, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center in Elon, N.C.
 
With the win the Phoenix will advance to the championship round of the CAA Tournament for the first time in program history.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Sibel Tanik got the ball rolling for Elon in singles play, making quick work of Slade Coetzee 6-2, 6-3 in No. 1 singles. The win marked Tanik's 14^th overall this year and was her ninth in her last 11 outings.
- Shauna Galvin continued her strong play this season, taking down Clara Errard 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 in a three-set battle that knotted the match up at 3-3. With the win Galvin moved to 10-2 overall this season and holds a 7-1 mark in the No. 6 slot.
- Olivia Archer clinched the match for Elon, outlasting Kate Earnhardt 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 in No. 4 singles. Archer picked up her team-leading 18^th victory of the season in the match and now sits at a perfect 8-0 in the No. 4 position.
- The combination of Archer and Alison O'Dea clinched the doubles point for the Phoenix, defeating Elizabeth Nowak and Maja Jekauc 7-5. The win moved the combo to 13-8 overall with an 11-8 mark in the No. 3 position.
- The tandem of Victoria Saldh and Julie Ball sparked the momentum in doubles play, outlasting Errard and Earnhardt 6-4 in No. 2 doubles. The duo picked up its 11^th victory of the season in the match and has now won five of its last six outings.

UP NEXT
Elon returns to action tomorrow, May 1, for a 10 a.m. matchup with the winner of second-seeded William & Mary versus third-seeded Delaware in the championship of the 2022 CAA Tournament at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on Elon's campus.
